EDIBLE // 30-minute Pizza Dough

Thursday, September 25, 2014
I love pizza. I am not sure how else to word it other than that.

Deep dish pizza takes it to a whole new level. I have been fortunate to taste amazing homemade deep dish pizza; and now there is no turning back.

So I had to try to figure out how to make an easy version. Granted, it is not nearly as amazing as good ole Chicago-style, but it comes a close second. This is the recipe for the crust, and you can fix it into whatever style of pizza you want.

OK. I have never put a recipe on the internet before. I'm so excited!!!!

Brief Overview:

Yeast-free, whole wheat pizza dough. Can be made into a regular-sized pizza; or can be put into a 9-in round pan for a deep-dish style. Takes approx 10 minutes to make and then 20-ish minutes to bake in a 400°F oven.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup unbleached white flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 cup + 3 tablespoons water

Whisk together flours, baking powder, & salt; set aside.

Combine water and oil in small bowl (or cup): stir well.

Slowly add water mixture to flour mixture in large bowl & combine with a wooden spoon or your (clean) hands.

Knead well on floured surface for 3-5 minutes. Stretch with hands to fit on pizza stone or in your 9-in pan (be sure to spray your 9-in pan with cooking spray).

Now comes the fun part!!! Put on your desired toppings: sauce, pepperoni, cheese, spices, etc. You don't even have to bake the dough before you put on the toppings!

Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-25 minutes or until pizza crust is turning sorta golden-colored. Enjoy your pizza!!!!
